Aftermath - A Halloween Party
02 Nov, 2024
Aftermath was my Halloween 2024 party, where my goal was to transform a standard function hall into an immersive, club-like space. The hall was washed in red light, with disco and strobe lights pulsing in sync at the back. A fog machine was added in for haze, to reveal the light beams, and enhancing spatial depth. By softening the edges and layering lights, a heightened sense of imersiveness was created within an otherwise ordinary venue (fig.2a-c).
A DJ friend curated and mixed tracks live throughout the night, with Halloween classics and chart-topping hits. (fig.3)Food and drinks were served on stainless steel trays and in matching tumblers—an intentional material choice that reinforced the club-like atmosphere. Each tumbler was labelled with a name sticker, designed in line with the event’s visual language, giving guests a subtle sense of ownership within the space. These tumblers were also taken home as souvenirs, extending the experience beyond the night itself. (fig.4a-b)
Guests were invited through a series of ominous videos, including an instructional video showing the smoking area, helped in conveying what to expect. (Fig.1a-b)
